NASTY NASTY REDUX
The script for the new SweatShop Video is locked, so I can take a bit of a breather. Actually, we're starting this new shoot a day early, and here's why: in finding foreign distribution for my movies, I found out that two countries, Canada and the U.K., would not take NASTY NASTY because of the incest scene. You remember, Jason Ridge plays identical twins who have sex with each other in the last scene. Before I made that movie, I was warned by a friend in the industry against doing it. He said I would run the risk of being ARRESTED if I shot a movie with an incest scene in it. I told him that while I intended to make the viewer believe that Jason really was two different people, it would be obvious that he was really one person playing two parts. The dvd would also include a behind-the-scenes feature that would show the person playing Jason's body double. I wasn't worried. Besides, if All Worlds can do movies with fathers, sons and brothers having sex with each other, I certainly could do this. Plus, my industry friend was the overly-cautious, skittish type.
I was mistaken, but for the wrong reason.
After the fact, Canada and the U.K. both told me they could not accept videos with incest themes, and the loss of revenue from the sale to these two countries was considerable. This left me with only one alternative:
Edit the incest scene out and shoot a new scene to replace it.
I felt the best way to do this would be to add a new character at the end who I could then bring back for the sequel (NASTY NASTIER, next year). And for me, no one other than Brett Mathews, a very hot, very sweet, very good performer I worked with in MARS NEEDS MEN for All Worlds, would do. There was just one problem: he was unavailable for a month.
Sooooo, back to the model books. Okay, my next choice would be the scene early in the film, when Ballsy calls his boss to report Jason's situation. His conversation was completely one-sided, so I thought we could shoot Mr. Bare's side, beginning with the conclusion of the phone call and continuing with the mob boss having sex with his bodyguard. Anthony Shaw was cast as Mr. Bare, and we were set.
Or so I thought. Last Friday, I received a phone call from Shaw's agent informing me that Anthony had to back out, citing an inability to leave his home state to come to the shoot. Rats. This posed a problem. I quickly discounted other models to replace him because the role needed someone specific: a bottom in his 30's or 40's who would do a scene with a black man. I finally found the right guy in Johnny Morelli, a model I'd worked with before as a cameraman in All Worlds' MOUNT JACK (am I plugging All Worlds enough here, or what?) doing a scene with Kent Larson. Johnny is a handsome, muscular Italian with salt-and-pepper hair and a tough accent. Perfect.
And, just so nothing goes to waste, this scene will appear on the dvd of NASTY NASTIER as a bonus. For the fans.
I'll let you know how the shoot goes.
