LAST MINUTE SHUFFLING
One of the little miseries of shoot scheduling is last-minute alterations and tweaking (not that kind).
One of the models called today to ask how big the guys who were topping him were. "One is no problem", I told him, "The other....well....you will probably want to stretch your hole a little the night before. He's big, but not huge. I think you can handle him if you practice a little the night before."
"Okay," the model said, "Just as long as it's a nice, slow pace. No 'revenge fucking'", which I thought was one of the funniest phrases I've heard in a long time.
Jacob Slader called (speak of revenge fucking!) to ask if his twelve noon call time could be pushed back to 12:40. I told him to push it back to 1pm. After the first scene in the morning, Drew Warner (doing stills) and I will have to take two models out to a stretch of highway for two shots and some pictures. No point in having the other models sit around, doing nothing. That drains energy from them and from the scene they will do.
Since I pushed Jacob's call time back, I had to call his scene partner, Andrew Addams, and tell him to come at 1:30. Jacob will be in makeup about 30 minutes, so Andrew can arrive and go right into makeup without having to wait for Jacob to finish. See how that works?
Another model called me back today. He plays the father in the video, and he wanted to know if he was having sex with his "son" in the scene. I told him the son would come in toward the end, but they wouldn't touch each other (see the last post as to why). He seemed satisfied by that.
Tomorrow, I hunt for sodas, snacks and props. When you're the producer, director, writer, cameraman and editor, you have to prepare just about everything yourself. But you know, I really like it that way. It's not a power thing, and perhaps a bit micro-managy, but it ensures that I'm getting exactly what I want for the movie and in the movie. The only thing I don't do is p.a. A good p.a. is INCREDIBLY valuable to the shoot, but it really is grunt work, and I'm beyond that. Knock wood.
