YOU ASKED! I ANSWER! PART 1

And we have a couple of questions, already! First up, from POmomondo:

You mentioned at atkol forums that Nick Capra was paired with Mario Cruz for "Mars Needs Men"? I know these two were roomates at the Live and Raw Hotel. How was the chemistry btw them and how is it to work with them? You certainly have worked with Nick a lot and like twice with Cruz, right?

First of all, let me just say that I LOVE NICK CAPRA! He is a funny, hyper, passionate, chatty-cathy of a mess! lol. On the set of SEXUAL URBAN LEGENDS for All Worlds (which if you have't seen, you should! He and Jason Ridge had amazing chemistry, and Nick alternately fucked then rimmed Jason's ass before having Ridge cum all over his face!), he told me that he would have let Ridge fuck him (he knows my weakness), and I made him promise to bottom in one of my videos for the first time. A promise which he kept (FRENCH KISS from Red Devil). We've spent a lot of time together. One of the best times was in Chicago two years ago for the Grabbys, where he, Bret Wolf and I went to after-parties and events and generally had a blast. One of my most vivid memories of them was a good-natured screeching argument between the two in the back of a taxi over who was better: Brittany or Madonna. I know, sounds like girly verbal cat-fight, but it wasn't, which is what made it hysterical. Nick and I became friends right after THE BOMBARDIER, which was the second time I had worked with him. I treat the models with professionalism and respect, and he picked up on that. Then, when I get to know them better, I joke around with them, which is what happened, and we became good friends. Sometimes Nick acts as though his head were spinning like a top, but he is always concerned about his career. Sometimes, like the rest of us, he makes bad choices, both in his career and in love, but at least he puts himself out there. If he screws up, he makes it a life lesson and tries to move on. He knows that he can count on me for advice and help when possible, and I know the same about him. He's a loud, outspoken Italian, and that can rub some people the wrong way, but he has a big heart, and he's a great guy.

MARIO CRUZ is probably the coolest cucumber in the industry that I know. Extremely laid-back with a velvety smooth personality, Mario is the coolest "hot" latino that you might meet. With a body chiseled out of stone and cheekbones you could set a drink on, Mario is also incredibly professional and concerned about his porn career. We had attempted about eight months ago to get a video called CRUZ CONTROL, which would have been a starring vehicle for him, off the ground, but to no avail. He wanted to be double-penetrated in it, to show off that talent. Other video companies had tried to do it, he said, but no one as yet had been able to pull it off. Either his co-stars couldn't get hard enough, or one of the three hadn't shown up and no replacement was attempted. Someday, Mario. He told me that he loves to get fucked by hot blond men, and he is about (if he's not there already) to move to San Francisco. I enjoy working with him and have done so three times, in MARS NEEDS MEN (All Worlds), SQUIRT (SweatShop Video) and just recently in FATHER/SON OUTING (also SweatShop).

In MARS NEEDS MEN, which is due out next month from All Worlds, Mario plays a Mexican sneaking over the Arizona border on Oct. 30th, 1938. The country is in a panic because of Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast. Everyone thinks it's real, and that martians are invading. Mario is caught by civil defense man Nick Capra, who at first, thinks this illegal alien is a REAL alien.

NICK: "Are you a Martian?"
MARIO: "No...I'm a Mexican."

Corny as all fuck, but for some reason, Nick and Mario thought these lines were hysterical. Oh, well, if they laugh, it works, right? Mario and Nick were not new to each other. They had done an orgy together, the extent of which was that Mario had sucked Nick's cock. Here, they were about to have one-on-one sex. Now, this was a night shoot, shot at a private section of the All Worlds resort on a big area of lawn. While the temperature was still in the 80's, there was a light breeze blowing, so the models were getting chilled. First, because it was a period piece, we had to re-style Nick's hair. The makeup man gelled the fuck out of it, then combed it straight back, where it hardened to a concrete-like consistency. Nick wasn't happy about that, but he knew I wanted it, so he grinned and bore it. Of course, I ended up keeping his helmet on throughout most of the scene, so the whole thing was pretty unnecessary! lol. The chemistry between the two was good. I think the chill in the air kept it from becoming sizzling, but Nick pounded Mario's ass good (Nick loves latinos—"Give me anything brown, and I'll fuck it" he says a lot). I loved the scene, and I loved shooting outside at night. You can really play with lighting and fog, and it was a blast. Check the movie out next month. It also stars BRETT MATHEWS, JASON CREW, JASON RIDGE, TY HUDSON, TROY PUNK, JASON HAWKE and LUCIANNO HAAS.

From Matt:

What is it like to work with "Hetero" guys in gay porn. Is your experience different from your fellow directors, or more along the same lines?

Well, I'm not sure what the experiences of my fellow directors are, concerning gay for pay performers, but look, working with ANY model is a crap shoot. There can be many problems: they're not feeling well, they're not into their partner, they HATE their partner, they're best friends with their partner and therefore can't do a scene with him, they're on drugs, they're divas, they're hypoglycemic and need to eat, they're cycle training and need to eat, they didn't bring their IDs, can you pay them in cash, I have to call my agent and a dozen other problems and demands they might have can affect the set and their performance. With gay-for-pay guys, you have to add "I'm straight and I'm not into sex with guys. I'm only doing this for the money." This can be a BIG factor. I heard of one G4P model who had to have his girlfriend on set. While his male scene partner was in position, this guy fucked his girlfriend a few feet away to get super-hard, then pulled out, slid on a condom and shoved his dick into his partner's ass and fucked him, while the videographer got as much footage as he could before the guy's dick shrivelled into a noodle-like consistency. Then, pull out, condom off, back into his girlfriend's pussy in a repeated cycle until enough footage was in the can. Crazy, huh? I won't say who the model is...B-(cough!) B-(cough!)...but if you were his scene partner, wouldn't you be insulted?

Now, some directors are more adept at handling straight performers. Chi Chi, for one, but she gets them to love her to the point where they'll do anything she asks. And she makes them shine. I personally don't care if a performer is gay-for-pay. I've worked with some, most notably Chet White. But if you're straight, and you're doing a gay porn video, you HAVE to perform in a manner that's exciting to the viewer, otherwise, what's the point? You're straight? For the next few hours, you're gay. You need to look at a straight fuck mag to get a hard-on? Fine, but when that guy is sucking your cock, you'd better moan like he's the best bitch you've ever had.

Performing in a gay video is just that...a performance. If you're gay and you're not attracted to your scene partner, you'd better act like he's the hottest man you've ever been with. That's your job, and it's what you're being paid to do. The same goes for G4P guys. You can pound pussy all you want on your own time. When you're here, you're queer, or at least you'd better act like it when the cameras roll. Otherwise, what' s the point? The hottest guy in the world isn't worth a nickel if he can't act like he's enjoying himself, because then you can't enjoy YOURself.

It's all about creating a fantasy for the viewer. For you. It's about taking you someplace else, turning you on and making you cum. It's about beauty. It's about passion. It's about art. It's about insight. And I hope I'm successful at making it work for you.
