RE-SHOOTING THE BOX

Well, the editing on FATHER/SON OUTING is almost done. Last week, I started playing around with the box cover. Now, I had a concept that I liked going into this project. There was a tunnel going through a mountain that I wanted to use as the background. I wanted pics of Mark Slade and Bobby Williams fading through the air above and around the tunnel with the title below them.

Using Photoshop, I did a mock-up box of this concept, and...it was terrible. Now, box covers are incredibly important (ask Jeir!). They, more than anything else sell the movie. So when I realized that my original concept of the box wouldn't work, I had to re-think and re-shoot it.

I got Mark and Bobby to come back last Monday night for a photo session. Bobby showed up an hour early, and we passed the time watching COLD CASE FILES and GREAT THINGS ABOUT BEING...QUEER. Mark showed up and we began to shoot. I tried a variety of poses.

I liked the last one the best, and tried it against the tunnel background. Too busy. My partner suggested an abstract background, and that seemed to work well. The graphic artist took it yesterday and will have a draft for me in a week! I'll let you know how it goes!
