MASQUE: PRE-PRODUCTION STORIES PART 2
With the shoot only four days away, the expected rounds of withdrawals and blow-offs have begun. Right before I left for Vegas, BRANDON IRONS e-mailed me to say he was backing out of the production. No explanation. Granted, he said he tried to let me know a.s.a.p. so I would have as much time as possible to find a replacement, but without a reason, how can I hire him again without worrying he'll do it to me twice?
And ROB ROMONI is out. After e-mailing me a few weeks ago to let me know that he was having some minor surgery, he has maintained the silence of the dead ever since. Even though I've seen him online, he has refused to answer my e-mails, IMs and phone calls. Finally, I had to give him a deadline to contact me and let me know if he was in or out of this video, and the deadline passed without a peep, so he's out.
Who will I replace them with? Well, one of the bright spots of working in Vegas last week (sharply contrasted with the low point of having THREE gay Republicans on the set) was meeting a model named EARL "THE DICKS MAN", a tall, lanky black man with a great personality. He did a wonderful job in his scene, and I decided to use him in this film. I had asked him if he liked orgies (some models turned this project down because they didn't), and he replied, "I do sex parties, so yeah." Hired.
I have a couple of names in mind to replace Rob. One is ZACHERY PIERCE. I'd at least like to talk to him about it, but I'm having trouble finding his contact info. I asked director DOUG JEFFRIES for his number in an e-mail three weeks ago, but have yet to receive a reply.
I'm going to the studio today to oversee the beginning of the set contruction and get some hotel rooms for a few of the out-of-town models.
JEREMY SPENCER (Happy Belated, Jeremy!) wants to see me today about the revised cut of BONESAW. He'll either sign off on it or request more changes.
So next week starts a long period of editing. It may begin with further BONESAW changes, but if not, then I jump into editing NEVER ENOUGH III, then MASQUE, then it's onto pre-production for the next Red Devil movie, which should be something really special.
