I went to the studio yesterday to check on the beginning of the set construction, and everything seems to be on schedule. As much as I liked shooting at Mid-Valley Studios before owner Bob Gallagher passed away, his last-minute set constructions and tweakings on the morning of the first day of production would drive me crazy. How nice to have someone actually begin this early in order to make sure they finished in time!

The set is going to be BIG. As I've said, the movie is loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Masque of the Red Death. One of the highlights of the story is Prince Prospero's party rooms: seven identical rooms lined up in a row with the exception that each one is a different color. Now, obviously we couldn't do that, so I decided to have the orgy in one big room that would be hexagonal in shape with each wall painted a different color. I chose green, yellow, blue, purple and black (no red because it is the forbidden color). The sixth wall would be missing so the cast and crew can enter and leave the set. The floor was originally supposed to look like a pie chart, as each color would continue to the middle of the floor, but after talking with the owner of the studio, we decided that the painted floor would peel from being walked on, so I chose to leave it black.

I also wanted a single piece of furniture put in front of each wall, but what they had wasn't stable enough to get fucked on, and I didn't have enough money in the budget to rent sturdier pieces, so we had to go with large painted boxes with cushions on them, instead.

The majority of last night was spent calling models to confirm the day, time and location of the shoot, as well as reminding them to bring their IDs. JASON CREW, SCOTT WILDE and EARL "THE DICKS MAN" will have to be put up in a nearby hotel. Earl's boyfriend will be coming along. They have been together for nine years.

I'm writing the script today. It will be very very short since this is primarily an all-sex video. If it goes past three pages, I will be shocked.

Today is going to be very busy. We are prepping our first order of films to Europe, so I have to get them together for shipping. DRIFTER 2 streets next week, so I have to take Channel 1's order to them today so it can get shipped out tomorrow. I'm meeting with JEREMY SPENCER today to either tweak BONESAW or sign off on it, and we're prepping a batch of titles to be sent to reviewers. The last remaining cast and crew members must be contacted today and given the shoot info, and I finally got ZACHERY PIERCE'S phone number. I left a message on his voice mail last night and hope to add him to the cast.

Plus...we are getting a new addition to our household. More on that, later.
