WHATEVER HAPPENED TO NICK CAPRA?

NICK CAPRA is one of my best friends in this business. We've known each other for years and have always had a mutual respect for each other. I can think of no one else that I would rather have taken to Paris, and we all had a great time together.

I've watched Nick go through boyfriends like M&Ms, hoping that he would finally find one that would love him and accept him and his crazy energy and who he could love and respect in return. After Paris, I would see him on shoots go from high energy to crashing and sleeping. Now, I'm so far removed from the drug culture, if I saw someone shooting up, I'd probably ask them if they were diabetic. But I never saw Nick do drugs, and he never told me he was doing them, so it never occurred to me that he might be high.

Finally, I got a phone call where Nick explained everything to me. He was a drug addict, he was out of control, and he was going to get help the only place he could—in rehab. It was a six-month commitment, but he was determined to do it. I wished him all the luck in the world, gave him my love and told him I was proud of him.

He called me every few weeks to give me updates. It was hard, he said, but he was clean and staying that way. I sent him a basket of energy bars and drinks and told him he'd have work when he got out. Now, for some reason, the counsellors there do not like the porn industry. They think it acts as a "trigger" for people to do drugs and alcohol. Nick disputes this (he is their first gay porn star, which caused some controversy, as the operators of the facility thought that their donors might withhold funds if they knew they were treating porn stars—how fucking ridiculous!), saying that porn was never a reason he got high. I must say, I don't believe this, either. In my 10 years in the industry, I've never done anything stronger than pot and that has been only twice. I drink alcohol, but only socially. I don't even drink wine with dinner at home. And JASON RIDGE is so anti-drugs, that he has walked out of potential work when he saw drug use going on.

Nick is still Nick. He has that wild energy that I love, only now it's pure and fresh. And the boyfriends—oh, the boyfriends. I think he's had four since he's been there. One was a policeman covered in tattoos and piercings, he said. His new love interest, Aaron, is supposedly a hottie of the first order (Persian and Iranian, he says), although I haven't seen him yet.

Nick knows I am posting everying on here about him and has given me his blessing. He leaves the facility at the end of this month. He officially "graduates" in mid-August and says he can't wait to jump back into the biz. He's been working out, says he's in great shape and can't wait to show everyone how good he looks. I know you'll join me in wishing him the best.

You can hear his story in his own words at his website: www.nickcapra.com.
