DANTE: DAY 3

Today, I hoped, would be a bit easier. We were shooting on the Light Monastery set, and there would only be one sex scene and one layout with some dialogue.

We started with ANTHONY "SNAPPY" DURAN shooting a layout on DAMON PHOENIX on a glorious bed covered in various fabrics with gold and red wall hangings behind him. TY HUDSON, who had shaved his head and face for the part, donned some intricate monk's robes (that he made himself!) and had some pics taken, as well.

Then we started their sex scene, and it went really fast. There was only one problem: Ty likes to fuck in character, and at one point he was topping Damon and started putting his hands all over Damon's face, finally sliding his fingers into his mouth. This set off something in Damon, who asked us to stop shooting while he ran offset to compose himself. He returned a few minutes later, asked Ty not to make the sex so claustrophobic, and the scene continued. It was really good.

After a relaxed lunch of pizza, Ty, Damon, LOGAN ROBBINS, Snappy and myself left for Mulholland Drive to try to find a spot that overlooked the city below for the opening and closing dialogue of the film. Logan sat on a fence while Damon puts a robe around his shoulders. It was very pretty, but a constant stream of traffic on the road directly behind them made sound recording a huge bitch. After multiple takes with varying success, a van and a truck pulled into our turnout and 3 guys got out to look at the view, effectively ending our taping. We all piled back into the van and returned to the studio, where EDDIE STONE was watching the documentary HALLOWEEN: 25 YEARS OF TERROR on a portable dvd player. He mentioned that HALLOWEEN had been his favorite film growing up. Yay, Eddie! We shot more dialogue (including a scene where Eddie roughs up Damon, who kept asking if he could have a bloody nose, a bloody forehead, a bloody mouth...geez, sounds like he should have been in BONESAW!), then wrapped, and I had Logan and Damon ADR their Mulholland lines in the parking lot.

A full day, but we ended earlier than the previous night. It was 7:00pm.

One more day of shooting, and the film would be over. Then two days of rest before starting the next one.

To be continued...
