DANTE COVER: EVOLUTION

Back in May, I showed you the third version of the DANTE dvd cover:

We revised a few things for the 4th version:

As you can see, we swapped the picture of LOGAN ROBBINS for a different one that we felt showed off his body and tattoos to greater advantage. The Tyger's Eye Imaging logo was replaced wtih the newest (at that time) version, and TRENT ATKIN's head was added to fill the space over Logan's shoulder. Spelling mistakes in the credits were corrected, and I decided to replace A FILM BY JETT BLAKK with A TYGER'S EYE IMAGING FILM, since it wasn't really a Jett Blakk film, but a collaborative effort, and A FILM BY JETT BLAKK AND TY HUDSON just took up too much room in the banner.

Ty was curious to see what the cover wold look like if the background color was gold instead of red, so we got this as a sample:

As you can see, this is just wrong. The gold color clashes with Logan's skin tone, and overall, it's just not impressive. It doesn't leap at you from a store shelf. So we went back to the red version with a few additional corrections.

The Tyger's Eye logo had been cuttting into Trent's face, so instead of making it smaller, I had it made larger and replaced at the bottom, shoving the credits off to one side. Now, Trent's head bothered me, because that's all it was: a big floating head. I had it made smaller with some shoulder seen, to bring good attention to it instead of bad, and to better offset the composition of Ty's picture on the other side. The red color, which had struck me as beeing too pinkish, was darkened, also...and may be darkened still.

Some of the thoughts that go through my head in the art of box design!
