PRODUCTION DIARY: STEPHEN--THE AFTERMATH
We finished the shoot on Sunday, but TYLER RIGGZ still had to do his glamour layout, which we were trying to do on Tuesday. By Monday evening, I still had not heard from him, but then, finally, he called.
"Jett," he said, "I'm on my way to the emergency room."
"What?! What's going on?"
"My left foot is swollen to twice it's normal size, and my leg below my knee is bright red. I think something bit me when we were shooting at the ranch. I just wanted to let you know, because I might not be able to make it tomorrow."
"Fuck tomorrow," I said. "Take care of your leg, first. Let me know what's going on."
"I will," he promised, and hung up.
I called ANTHONY DURAN and filled him in on what was going on. There was nothing to do now, but wait.
About 9:00 that evening, the phone rang again. It was Tyler's boyfriend.
"Tyler's being admitted into the hospital," he told me. "They think he got bitten by a bug and he's having a reaction to it. They're giving him a lot of antibiotics through an IV, but they say he probably won't have to stay the night. He's planning on coming into town tomorrow anyway."
"Please tell him not to worry about it," I said. "If we have to reschedule, we will."
And we did. It turned out that even though Tyler went home, his foot was still swollen and he couldn't walk on it. He had a Falcon TV shoot set for the next day, Wednesday, and he thought he could come by at 3:00pm and be done in time for his 6:00 appearance. But at 10 am, my phone rang...
"Jett," Tyler said, "I can't do it today. Falcon wants me there at 4, and we won't have enough time if we start shooting at 3 (Anthony wasn't available until 3pm). But we're spending the night in town, so if you wanted to do it Thursday morning, we could."
A quick check with Anthony confirmed that this was okay, and the next morning, Tyler showed up. His foot and shin were still a bit swollen, but it didn't look bad, and he could walk on it. Anthony shot the layout in front of the fence by my house, and it went swimmingly.
"I liked working with you," Tyler said as he left. I did, too, Tyler. Only next time, we'll shoot indoors!
